Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Lakewood Memorial Library. Volunteers serve an important role in helping us in our mission to help community members of all ages improve their quality of life by providing access to materials and services that meet their personal, educational, and professional needs.
There are a variety of ways in which you can help the library:
Program leader:
This involves working with our Program & Outreach Coordinator and/or Director to design, market, and run a new program for the library.
Program aide:
This involves assisting in preparing and running various programs at the library, such as setting up chairs, preparing things, and helping with crafts.
Technology aide:
This involves leading classes on different software use (Microsoft Suite, Adobe, etc.), coding, website development, how to use a tablet, or any technological skill you have that you can teach to others.
Adopt-a-Shelf:
You’ve likely heard of Adopt-a-Highway. Well, adopt-a-shelf uses the same premise. Pick a shelf in the library and ensure it stays clean and in order.
General library assistance:
Come into the library and help with anything the library staff needs help with at that moment.
Summer Reading Program:
The Summer Reading Program is a major program for the library. The more help we have throughout the process of planning, marketing, and executing the program, the more successful it can be.
Special events:
Throughout the year, we hold special events that you can help us with in many different ways depending on your skills and interests.
