After completing her first book entitled Picturing Gratitude, Susan Simmons has found inspiration again through some of her most-loved pieces, which she painted in 2018. At that time, life events left her driven to paint highly abstract, impressionist landscapes.
Looking back on the series, Susan is again creating new pieces, conveying a deep and introspective outlook in her view of the world. “The earth is as much a living being as a bug, a bird or a person. I like to feel the energy of the earth, and visually convey that feeling in a way that brings the energy and vibration to the table as the main topic of interest.”
Susan Simmons, Jamestown, New York, paints landscapes, figurative, and abstract paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. She received her most recent award in the Jamestown Roger Tory Peterson 2022 Inaugural Plein Air Festival.
Susan excelled in her fine arts and graphic arts studies and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. Susan is dedicated to painting fresh, vibrant, and exciting pieces.
