Johnsons Art Display in the Heritage Room

The Johnson Family has been doing Arts, Crafts, and Graphic Design, their whole lives. It is part of who they are. It may involve anything from Photography to Ceramics, and even if they find that a medium that is not their “cup of tea”, they like to explore different possibilities. The experience which often includes both enjoyment and challenges, enrich each day in varying ways. Of course they also enjoy sharing their creations, including the how-tos.

“Art is the activity by which a person, having experienced an emotion, intentionally transmits it to others” – Leo Tolstoy

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso

Art is a very personal experience and can be intended to only be seen by the artist, or shared in order to convey a feeling, thought, or idea to others. The pieces shown in the gallery are a mixture of these. Some pieces were only intended for the creator and some were to share, but our hope is that you will find a connection, not just to the pieces or the artist, but to art.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” – Thomas Merton

“A picture is a poem without words” – Horace

Please join us on the 18th, weather permitting, to try some different art activities and share how art can be very therapeutic, especially with things like stress. We hope that you will enjoy looking, but are inspired to pull out your artist brush if it has been awhile, try a new media if you need some inspiration, or investigate different ways to use arts and crafts to make your life just a little bit better!
